This is being posted Monday June 23rd, 2025. On Friday, the 28th, EAA goes into effect. If you haven’t completed your efforts to be completely accessible, I have one piece of advice:
Don’t stop now. Keep working on it.
Dates come and go. Doing good doesn’t.
Look, the law has been in place for plenty of time to have fixed your site before this week. But focusing on that doesn’t help anyone. So let’s look at what we can do.
At some point, you may get notifications from governing bodies about the website. Don’t panic. Get a lawyer to help walk you through what to do next.
But before you get that notification, keep working on the backlog of accessibility issues you have. Continue to get audited annually. Build a “shift left” mentality where the accessibility keeps work keeps moving closer to ideation. Work on Ensure product managers, designers, business analysts, developers, and QA all prioritize accessibility. It should be at the top of their minds while doing their work.
It may be EAA time. A single day may arrive and pass. That doesn’t mean we stop improving accessibility. Keep doing the good work.
