About

Photographer. Web Designer. Father. Buddhist. Vegan. Philosopher. Humanitarian. Teacher. Yoga lover.

I am a freelance photographer, web designer and developer in Wisconsin. I grew up on the east coast in a family of artists, engineers and inventors. Encouraged from an early age, art has always been a passion and an outlet for me. I have been drawing and painting ever since my earliest memories. My father taught me to use a SLR camera when I was twelve. I received my own Pentax K1000 when I was 16. As a philosophical soul, reading, learning and challenging myself have been mainstays in my life.

Photography

Those early years were spent mostly on sports photography, particularly skateboarding and snowboarding, but I have challenged myself with nature, architecture, portrait and experimental as my love for the art grew. I have sold images in galleries and to publications. I have also worked in studio settings shooting and processing images.

Web Design and Development

Much of my web design and development career has revolved around usability, accessibility and ecommerce. Working on numerous content management systems has taught me to quickly adapt to the environment in which I work. While I have personal technology preferences, I am really technology agnostic learning new methods, systems, frameworks and languages quickly to accomplish the goal.

When working with larger firms, I found I had to adopt multiple design styles to accommodate the large number of clients. This enables me to capture the influences the client likes and quickly create something unique. Yet, I have been able to retain and develop my own unique style at the same time.

Despite a minimalist philosophy in design, I love rich colors, especially in my photography. I am inspired by deep colors found in the natural world from flowers and animals to skys and stone. I try to bring this forth in all my images. Don’t be fooled, despite being in gray scale these same rich colors can be reproduced in black and white images as well.
